In March 2026, Qurgen announced that a late-stage of ocular melanoma patient from the ongoing Qurgen clinical trial showed no detection of the melanoma driver BAP1 gene mutations in the blood and biopsy tissue samples before (> 70.0% mutation) and after a 9-month SON-DP treatment (mutation not detectable). The SON-DP treatment leads to cancer driver gene mutation-free in the converted tissues. Similar phenomenon has also observed for other driver gene mutations such as KRAS and p53 of different cancer types including colorectal cancer patients. This makes SON-DP the FIRST and the ONLY cancer therapy that is potentially capable of repairing the somatic mutations of cancer driver genes. More studies are ongoing to reveal the mechanism of SON-DP induced repair of the cancer driver gene mutations.
