Inauguration of the Headquarters Base of Fuent Pharmaceutical, a High-Tech Biomedical Enterprise
- On January 23, the headquarters base of Suzhou Fuent Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. was inaugurated in Suzhou National High-Tech District, injecting innovative impetus into the high-quality development of the district’s biomedical industry.
- Gu Haidong, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and Vice Mayor of Suzhou; Wang Jianjun, Founder, Chairman and Chief Scientist of Fuent; Guo Ming, Director of Fuent and Chairman of Suzhou Fuent Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.; Chu Yiwei, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Institutes of Biomedical Sciences, Fudan University; Shu Yongqian, Director of the Department of Oncology, Jiangsu Provincial People’s Hospital; Mao Wei, Secretary of the Party Working Committee of the High-Tech District; Zhang Ying, leader of the district; responsible officials of relevant municipal departments, as well as heads of relevant district departments, sub-districts and state-owned companies attended the event.
- Founded in the United States in 2012, Fuent has independently developed a number of breakthrough proprietary core patented technologies and innovative therapies. Leveraging its self-developed breakthrough patented technologies in protein delivery and in situ cell reprogramming within diseased tissues, the company has built a comprehensive product pipeline focused on the field of anti-tumor pharmaceuticals.
- The newly inaugurated Fuent Pharmaceutical headquarters base houses a green intelligent anti-tumor drug manufacturing facility with an annual capacity of over 400,000 vials. Its products are currently undergoing clinical trials in both China and the United States. The base will serve as the company’s China Oncology R&D Center, with the goal of building an innovative biomedical enterprise with global competitiveness.
- At the event, Fuent Pharmaceutical signed an agreement with the Institutes of Biomedical Sciences, Fudan University to jointly establish a Joint Laboratory for Clinical Research and Translational Medicine. The two sides will carry out in-depth cooperation in the co-construction of clinical research platforms, joint research on key projects, cultivation of interdisciplinary talents, and incubation of scientific and technological achievements.
- In recent years, the medical device and biomedical industry in the High-Tech District has continued to expand, with a rapid concentration of innovation factors. The district is home to more than 1,100 biomedical enterprises, including international leaders such as bioMérieux and Thermo Fisher Scientific; professional public service platforms such as Labcorp, PPD, Medivir and Sino Biological; as well as biomedical firms including Yidao Bio and Haofan Bio. The industrial output value has maintained an average annual growth rate of over 30% for consecutive years, reaching nearly 50 billion yuan in 2023. The peptide-based biologic industrial cluster was selected into the 2023 National List of Characteristic Industrial Clusters for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, making it the only cluster in Suzhou to receive this recognition.
- Moving forward, the High-Tech District will strive to build a world-class medical device and biomedical industrial cluster with the goal of “developing the most complete industrial chain, the strongest industrial cluster and the optimal industrial ecosystem”, making greater contributions to Suzhou’s effort to build biomedicine into its “No. 1 Industry”.
